Contact Lens Initial Fitting Appointment

For patients who have never worn contact lenses, are switching types of contact lenses worn, or have not worn contact lenses for a period of time

Contact Lens Fitting Process

  1. Your Optometrist will perform various tests to assess the health and integrity of the front of your eye and tear layer. They will also discuss your lifestyle and needs and come up with the best contact lens option for you.

  2. Once this has been decided, a set of trial contact lenses will be ordered and fitted for you.

  3. Next, you will have a contact lens teach appointment where we will show you how to confidently insert, remove and care for the lenses.

  4. When you have comfortably worn the lenses for the suggested length of time, the Optometrist will do a final check to ensure that your vision and ocular surface health are optimal.

  5. After the lenses have been signed off, you are free to order a supply as you wish.

In the UK, contact lenses can only be supplied under the general direction or supervision of a registered practitioner. Your contact lens prescription is provided by your optometrist or contact lens optician and needs to be checked at least every 12 months. A contact lens aftercare appointment is designed to check the health of your eyes as well as your vision with contact lenses. Both your eye examination and contact lens aftercare needs to be valid in order for us to continue to supply contact lenses. Contact lens aftercare appointments are a UK legal requirement to protect your eye health.
